Is on-line EMR data secure?
The OmniMD specialty Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system online data is highly secure. The OmniMD central data center is located in a hardened subterranean mainframe data center, with redundant power backup. The Internet connectivity relies on 5 redundant OC-48 fiber-optic connections. Server management includes active hardware firewall-based protection and network security, virus and spy-ware protection, continuous server monitoring and cell phone alert, and regularly scheduled database and file backup.
What is “point-and-click” feature?
OmniMD’s specialty Electronic Medical Records System (EMR) uses the clinical database engine, MEDCIN®-based point-and- click forms to record patient encounters.  With automatic prompts, this feature allows a patient narrative to be created by simply selecting logical choices within phrases, macros and lists.  The directory of the phrases, lists and macros is exhaustive enough to cover a large range of clinical situations.  Users also have the added flexibility of incorporating their own data points.
How does specialty EMR make a practice paperless?
Using the OmniMD specialty Electronic Medical Records System (EMR)  with all patient demographics, insurance records, allergies, current and pre-existing medications, social, family, and medical history, patient flow-sheet, Superbills, transcription, lab orders, scanned documents, form records, messages, visit records, captured vitals, HPI, ROS and physical exams etc.  Providers can also generate referral, attorney letters and case sheets.  Users also have the ability to capture information using custom web forms and MEDCIN®-based point-and-click templates.  By capturing this information in electronic format, OmniMD makes a practice much less paper-dependent, with faster and universal retrieval of information.
Do you have an EMR for my specialty?
OmniMD’s specialty electronic medical records system (EMR) supports these specialties:

Allergy and Immunology, Cardiology, Chiropractic, Critical Care , Dermatology, Endocrinology, Family Practice, Gastroenterology, Hyperbaric, Infectious Diseases , Internal Medicine, Neurology, OB/GYN(Gynecology), Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Pathology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Sports Medicine and Urology.New specialties are constantly being added to our list. Contact us for updates.
How can the EMR be customized to suit specialty specific requirements?
While setting up your account, the OmniMD implementation team, consisting of healthcare IT experts and qualified doctors, works with your practice staff to collect and understand specialty-specific requirements, and customize the EMR system according to needs.  OmniMD also provide the option of customizing MEDCIN®-based data elements for specialty needs while setting up an OmniMD account.
How does EMR reduce charting costs?
It is estimated that the creation, tracking, storage and maintenance of paper records costs $8 per record per year.  Electronic records can be maintained for $1.00 to $2.00 per year.  Based on this, if a provider has 3000 active charts per year then a practice can eliminate $18,000 in charting costs per provider per year.
Does this meet HIPAA requirements?
OmniMD’s specialty electronic medical records (EMR) system is backed by technology and coding consistently compliant with all HIPAA policies, both current and future.  HIPAA-compliance is implemented via the following measures: 128-bit data encryption, special hardware/system-based physical security, user authentication security, personnel policies and a contingency plan for emergency situations enables the OmniMD EMR to be HIPAA-compliant.  For more details on HIPAA-compliance please visit: http://www.omnimd.com/html/hipaa.html
Can one chart at the point of care?
Yes, computers with Internet access are at each workstation, such as reception, the examination room, and consultation room, to chart at the point of care.  One can also access OmniMD from any handheld or pocket PC.
